A new TV production stage complex providing a purpose built home for drama production in the north of England and a sister site to ‘The Sharp Project’. The part new build / part refurbishment works covered 50,000 ft2 of production space, 50,000 ft2 of supporting workshops and 10,000 ft2 of prop construction workshop. Complex structural adaptation works involved the removal of existing internal columns following the installation of new 2.5m deep, 30m length roof ‘’transfer’’ trusses in order to create a series of column free, highly flexible drama stages. Detailed loading analyses and intrusive sub-structure verification works led to re-use of the existing building foundations to support post-development foundation loads.
