Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services Unit, Countess of Chester Hospital (CAMHS)

40,000 sq ft ‘Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services’ facility located within the grounds of the ‘Countess of Chester’ Hospital. This geometrically challenging structure was part single storey and part two storey, including a lower ground section. The structure was formed utilising load bearing masonry with ground improvement techniques employed to provide uniformity and appropriate bearing strength to the existing variable ground conditions. The underground surface water drainage design incorporated a SuDS pond to enhance the local ecology and provide appropriate storm water storage. The design coordination and detailing benefited from the use of BIM software.
